Concrete Blocks, Concrete Masonry Units

Concrete Blocks, or Concrete Masonry Units, are a time-proven, cost-effective landscape and construction material frequently used for walls. They come in many sizes, colors and styles, making them ideal for a wide variety of projects. They resist moisture, mold, fire and insects. They usually have hollow centers to reduce weight and improve thermal and sound insulation. Their thermal mass can be used as a heat store to reduce energy use.

Precision Concrete Blocks have square edges and smooth textures. Slump Blocks are shaped during the manufacturing to give them the look of old adobe bricks. Split Face Block starts much like precision block, but after aging, one or two sides are “split” for a unique texture.

Concrete Blocks need to be selected properly to best suit for your job. Be sure to specify the type or types to be used and their locations. Consultation with an architect and/or a construction engineer may be needed.

A sample panel is important to serve as a visual aid for the mason and the architect. This reduces disagreements about workmanship standards. Instead of a sample panel, begin work in the most obvious section designated by the architect, and use this as the sample panel.

Sepulveda Building Materials offers a wide variety of Concrete Blocks and Concrete Masonry Units. A sampling of our products is shown below, and we invite you to Contact Us for information on the many other colors and styles that are available.
